Astroboy

At the time, ACG WORLDS was developing the Tezuka character NFT project TCOM and Astro Boy Red Boots under an official license from Tezuka Productions. For this collaboration, I designed a character by giving Shhan from Mimic Shhans the features of Astro Boy.

I kept the black feline body, yellow eyes, and red scarf of Mimic Shhans, and gave the character Astro Boy’s signature red boots. I added a blue barrel to one arm, recalling Mega Man’s Mega Buster. The Mega Man element was not part of the official collaboration; it was a reference I incorporated separately into the design.

I first drew the character as a 2D digital drawing, then animated it in Adobe After Effects. By adding movement and depth to a flat image, I made it look as though a three-dimensional character was flying through the air.
