Endless Time
A digital painting of a girl and a black cat encountering a vast being in the ruins of a forgotten city
Artwork information
I layered an aging body, things I have lost and a polluted, damaged world into the ruins. The giant cat appears godlike, yet neither restores the landscape nor changes the small creatures’ fates. I painted it as nature beyond my control, carrying the weight of time and memory that remains when everything else fades.
I projected myself onto the girl and the small cat. I wanted their encounter with a world far larger than themselves to feel suspended, as if the world had briefly stopped breathing.
I kept the surrounding water and light bright. Within the silence after collapse, I wanted presence and hope to remain alongside loss. I presented this work at the GAZE exhibition in Tokyo.
